We are going to continue learning about story elements this week in literacy. We are also going to start guided reading groups. All of the groups will be reading books that are related to our social studies unit about Native Americans. We will also continue with place value in math. We have been learning about digits into the ten thousands, rounding, odd/even numbers, expanded, standard and word form. Students need to be able to identify the value of the individual digits within a number for example the digit 4 in 4,567 is worth 4,000. We are also working on rounding to the nearest 10 and 100. Students also need to be able to write numbers in different forms such as 567= 500+60+7 (expanded form), five hundred sixty-seven (word form) and 567 (standard form). We will continue working on place value in addition to starting addition with and without regrouping.
Please sign up for my Remind 101 account by texting @d233f to (860)554-0082. If you sign up by Friday, September 19, your child will receive a homework pass for one night of no homework!
I’d like to extend the invitation to come visit me at my fire department’s booth at the Taste of Wallingford October 4 and 5th. I am unsure of my hours right now. As soon as I know what they are, I will let everyone know. If you come visit, your son or daughter will get a homework pass!
Many of the kids are starting to get runny noses. If you have an extra box of tissues, please consider sending it into school. Our school tissues tend to irritate sore noses. Thank you for your support.
Warmly,
Miss Pantalena
