Room 5 students will receive one written piece of homework, usually math, Monday through Thursday. Students will also be required to read 20-30 minutes a night Monday through Saturday. Once a week, students will be given one open ended reading comprehension question to answer. This will be due on Monday morning. Additional long term assignments will be given throughout the year. Students will also be given an account on TenMarks to practice math concepts. Students will be given time to work on these assignments in school but some may need to be completed at home.
All work will support in class lessons. If you child struggles with the homework, please indicate which problem(s) you assisted with so I can review the skill in class.
Students are allotted one "oops" per month. An "oops" can be used if a child was unable to complete the assignment. It will entitle the student to have one more day to complete the assignment.
Students will also have opportunities to earn homework passes throughout the year. If a child uses a homework pass, the assignment does not need to be completed. These are not applicable to long term assignments.
Since students will have one "oops" per month and access to homework passes, the consequence for not completing homework is a clip move on our behavior chart.
