I hope all of the boys and girls came home on Friday and shared about our exciting day! I was very happy to see how well behaved my students were for Mrs. Rogers on Friday, especially since it was such an exciting day. The class seemed to enjoy our Fire Safety talk, visit with Durham’s Rescue and seeing Trooper Weber and K9 Taz again. Well done boys and girls! I hope you learned some safety tips that you were able to share with your families.
We have a typical week ahead of us. We will wrap up our math unit on place value, adding and subtracting with and without regrouping. Our next unit will be multiplication! The boys and girls are looking forward to starting this new unit.
I hope your son or daughter has been telling you about our Literacy Unit. We have been focusing on fiction story elements, with a particular focus on theme and lesson. To wrap up the unit, we will be writing our very own scripts based upon some of the fables that we read. We will then turn the scripts in the Lego Stop Action Movies. We will work with some students from Hawk Studios, an 8th grade club to film, edit and produce our very own movies. Stay tuned for updates!
At Open House, I mentioned having parent volunteers come into the classroom as guest readers or to work with students. Please let me know if you’re still interested in helping. I am looking to have a guest reader come in on a weekly basis to read to the class. I am also looking for a parent that is willing to come in and help student study math facts. Please email me or write me a note with a few days and times that you are available and I will do my best to fit you into our schedule.
Room 2 would like to congratulate Kevin for being this week’s Star Student! Kevin has been working very hard at following directions the first time they are given and to always try his best. Not only is he working hard, but he is a great friend to his classmates. I can always count on Kevin to be kind and helpful. Way to go Kevin, Room 2 is very proud of you! Keep working hard!
This Thursday is another Korn Spirit day. The theme is Crazy Hair Day. Wear your hair in the wackiest way you can think of!
Please visit our classroom webpage for pictures from Bushy Hill and our Fire Safety Day.
Stay warm!
Miss Pantalena (and Stryker...he is sleeping on my lap as I am writing to you!)
