The boys and girls are doing a great job learning the methods behind multiplication. They are becoming experts at identifying which factor represents the groups and which represents the number in each group. They also learned that the answer to a multiplication equation is called the product.
This week we are going to learn how to solve multiplication facts by creating an array. This strategy, along with circles and stars, repeated addition and skip counting will help the students solve any multiplication problem they will encounter. We will also learn about the identity property and the communitive property of multiplication. The boys and girls will be responsible for memorizing the times 0 and times 1 tables this week.
Room 2 would like to congratulate Gesami for being this week’s Star Student. Gesa is learning that challenges can be fun and that she can figure out a way to tackle any problem by identifying what she knows and then using that to figure out the unknown. Congratulations Gesa on increasing your confidence and for being this week’s Star Student. You earned the title with all of your hard work! Keep it up!
Thank you to all of the parents that helped put together the Halloween party last week. The boys and girls really enjoyed all the yummy snacks, the craft and the Bingo game. Thank you for putting together the party for the kids! I hope everyone had a wonderful and safe Halloween.
Please do not forget that the kids have the day off on Tuesday due to Election Day. Also, please be on the lookout for a conference confirmation letter from me telling you what day/time your son or daughter’s conference will be on.
Please look at the police & fire section of the Durham Patch. An article was published about the fire education talks that the boys and girls enjoyed a few weeks ago. There is also an article about the poster contest.
Have a fantastic week,
Miss Pantalena
