We made our classroom constitution last week. We generated a list of potential rules and narrowed the list down to six. We agreed on:
- I will follow directions.
- I will treat other the way I want to be treated.
- I will be kind and respectful.
- I will turn my voice off when someone is talking.
- I will raise my hand if I have something to share.
- I will try my best and have fun.
Every week, I will nominate one student to be our Star Student. I look for students that are going above and beyond or are trying very hard to improve in an area. It is often a very hard choice to make since I only nominate one student at a time. This week, I nominated Marco! Marco is very respectful and helpful. He goes above and beyond when it comes to helping his classmates. He helped five students on Friday alone! Marco is a perfect example of a Star Student. Congratulations Marco, Room 2 is proud of you! Keep up the wonderful work!
Please visit my classroom website to see Marco’s drawn portrait and the paragraph about why he is our first Star Student!
If you have not sent back the paperwork that was handed out at Meet the Teacher or my webpage permission slip, please do so as soon as possible. If you need extra forms, please let me know. Also, if you wish to purchase spirit wear for Korn, please return your shirt order on or before Friday, September 11.
We had a lockdown last week. The boys and girls did a wonderful job. We had not practiced what to do incase of a lockdown yet. My plan was to practice this week. The kids followed directions immediately and perfectly. As expected, they were nervous and wanted to chat a bit but we talked about how we were safe and how important it is to stay quiet. We talked afterwards about how important it is to try and stay as calm and quiet as possible. Overall, I was very proud with how the class performed. Well done boys and girls!
Warmly (a little too warm for after Labor Day!)
