Thank you to the wonderful parents that chaperoned our field trip Friday. The boys and girls of Room 2 were amazingly well behaved. I am very proud of them! Well done kids! I hope your son or daughter shared all of the wonderful scientific exhibits they got to see. I also hope they told you about the colloid they made in our workshop. A colloid has the properties of more than one state of matter. The goo they made acts like a solid and a liquid. The goo holds it’s shape and bounces like a solid would but it has the ability to ooze like a liquid. Can you and your child think of other examples of a colloid?
I really enjoyed meeting with all of you last week during our conferences. The boys and girls really are working incredibly hard this year. We are in the finishing stages of our Lego Stop Action movies. Please stay tuned for information about our Red Carpet Premier! The tentative date is December 23 right before our Holiday party begins. I decided to combine the two to make it easier for parents to make. I understand how hard it is to get time off from work, especially around the holidays. I figured one date would be easier than two.
More information about the Holiday party will be coming soon but as of right now, the solid plans are a Crazy Pen Exchange during a pajama party with lunch. Students are asked to bring in one Crazy Pen wrapped in wrapping paper. I will read T’was The Night Before Christmas and every time I say the word “the” the kids will exchange pens. A crazy pen is anything but a typical pen. In years past, kids have brought in pens with pom poms on them, Lego pens, foot long pens etc. Some great places to look are dollar stores, Walmart and Job Lot. Pens can be brought in as soon as you acquire them. One of my favorite parts of Christmas is lounging around in your pajamas and eating a nice warm breakfast. So to reenact that experience, students are asked to wear their pajamas and bring their favorite stuffed animal to school on December 23. Mrs. Cella will contact parents about the breakfast for lunch part of the day.
We have a busy week ahead of us. This Wednesday is the Holiday concert. Students are asked to be at the high school at 5:55 dressed in picture day like attire. The kids have been working incredibly hard and it is sure to be a beautiful concert. This Friday is spirit day. Students are asked to wear their best Holiday spirited clothing. Next week on December 15, students will attend a Holiday Fair. Please send your child to school with money in an envelope with his or her name on it on the 15th if your child has permission to shop.
Room 2 would like to congratulate Emily on being this week’s Star Student! Emily always comes to school with a smile on her face ready to learn and to help others. She is a constant ray of happiness in our class. Keep working hard and smiling Miss Emily! Your kindness, happiness and willingness to learn is a wonderful component to our classroom. Congratulations Emily, Room 2 is very proud of you!
Please consider sending in nonperishable items for our food drive run by Student Senate. For every five goods donated, we will be able to staple one snowflake to the donation graph in the cafeteria.
Warmly,
Miss Pantalena and Stryker
