We have a busy week ahead of us before Winter Break. Tuesday is our field trip to the Children’s Science Museum in West Hartford. As of last week, I was missing a lot of permission slips. Please return the permission slip and money tomorrow if you have not sent it in already. I would also appreciate if another parent could volunteer to be a chaperone. As of right now, we only have one parent volunteer. Please email me if you could come. I understand it is a tough week to get time off being that it is right before the holidays.
Wednesday, December 18th is spirit day. Student senate decided that the theme will be Winter. Everyone is asked to dress in winter colors, or winter holiday apparel. Student senate suggested outfits such as brown pants and a green top to be a Christmas tree, all white with a top hat to be a snowman, or reindeer antlers.
Thank you to the students that brought in items for the toy drive. December 18th is the last day to bring items in to donate. If you donate, you will receive a special sticker from Student Senate and a homework pass from me as a thank you. The items have to be new and unwrapped.
Our Winter Celebration is Friday, December 20. A notice went home last week about signing up on the Potluck website to bring items in. In addition to the Winter Celebration, students will be decorating gingerbread houses. Parents are welcome to join. We will begin construction at 1:40. Every student is asked to bring in a base (cutting board, thick cardboard, or a piece of wood wrapped in tin foil), 1 can of frosting (not whipped), 1 box of graham crackers and a bag of candy to share.
After we are done decorating gingerbread houses, we will clean up and start our Celebration. Instead of doing a book exchange, I like doing a Wacky Pen exchange. Please purchase and wrap a pen (no more than $5). I will read T’was The Night Before Christmas and every time I say the word “the” the kids will exchange pens. At the end, everyone will end up with a Wacky Pen.
As a special treat, Friday will also be a pajama day! Natalie won this month’s Star Card Raffle and her prize was being able to pick a class wide reward. She decided a pajama day would be a great reward. Together, we decided to have it on Friday to add to the celebration.
Thank you,
Miss Pantalena
