Since it's Wednesday I am just going to send out an e-mail with upcoming information rather than write a complete newsletter. Hopefully we will have a normal, full week next week!
Anyways, your son or daughter came home Thursday with Pennies for Patients information. We are collecting spare change to donate to Pennies for Patients. I suggested the class goes home and offers to do chores in exchange for money to donate. The classroom the raises the most money will win a pizza party! My class won the last two years, it would be awesome to win again. Winning aside, it's a great charity and the class seems very eager to help raise money. Even the smallest donation is great! Thank you!
Speaking of pizza parties, we have about a week and a half left to bring in more Box Tops. Our classroom was in the lead but recently another classroom has edged ahead by about 70 Box Tops. Please continue bringing them in! It would be awesome to win that Pizza Party!
Friday, February 27 is our Folder Share. More information will be coming home about that. It's usually 7:30 (I think) to 8:45. Feel free to come and see what your son or daughter has been doing in the classroom.
March 2 kicks off Read Across America Day. I'd like to invite parents in throughout the month to be guest readers. If you can't physically come in, we could Skype with you or another family member. Please contact me to set up a date and a time.
We have two exciting new events coming up in March. More information will be coming home. We have a brand new field trip to the Peabody Museum and the Eili Whitney Museum will be coming here. Both experiences address our science curriculum. The Peabody Museum, class at the museum, bus to and from New Haven along with the Eli Whitney workshop here will cost each student about $27. I am figuring out how much the final bus field trip around Middlefield will cost each third grader. I was thinking it would be easier to send in a check to cover all of the remaining trips. As mentioned, more information will be coming. I truly think that these experiences will really enhance our science unit on ecosystems.
Lastly, I signed all of you up for conferences. The paper will come home on Wednesday, February 25 in the green envelopes. I tried to give the exact same time and day as the December conferences. Please let me know if the time works. As always, I will work with you to find a time if you can't make the original time.
Thanks!
A very cold, Miss Pantalena
