We had an extremely exciting week! We found out that Gesami, Emma and Natalie won second place in the Middlefield Fire Department poster contest. This year’s theme was Prevent Kitchen Fires. Congratulations girls, Room 2 couldn’t be any prouder of you. The rest of the class also participated and received goodie bags full of exciting items.
Friday was Fire Prevention Education Day at Korn School. I brought my gear to school and taught fire safety lessons for Miss Bruch and Mrs. Eames’ classes in the morning. In the afternoon, my Lieutenant joined me and we did the fire talks for Miss Montepara’s and my classroom. We were also very lucky to have Fire Fighter Brian Szymaszek and Fire Fighter Francis Willett from Durham bring one of the trucks to school for all of the kids to see. We were also joined by Fire Fighter Dunleavy from Miss Montepara’s room. I hope your son or daughter shared this wonderful, educational event with you!
Room 2 would like to congratulate Natalie for being this week’s Star Student. Natalie is very hard working and always follows the Core Values. She has been working particularly hard during our reading lessons. She is always willing to share her thoughts and answer questions during lessons. Congratulations Natalie and thank you for being so enthusiastic about learning.
Our first field trip is later this week. We will be going to Bushy Hill in Ivoryton, CT. The boys and girls have been learning about the Plains and the Woodland Native Americans. This trip allows the students to experience what it would be like to be a Native American for the day. Please make sure your student has comfortable shoes on and is dressed accordingly. We will be outside all day. I would suggest dressing in layers to accommodate the New England fall weather we have been experiencing. Students will also need a bagged snack, lunch and drink. All parents are welcome to join us on this field trip. I will have the address and directions available that morning if you wish to join us.
Thank you for your continued support!
