I’d like to invite everyone to come visit me at my Fire Department’s booth Saturday at the Taste of Wallingford on Main Street in Wallingford. We are making chicken wings. I will be there on and off all day on Saturday starting around 10am. I will periodically have to run home to let Stryker out. If you come find me, your child will get a homework pass and a Star Card! http://www.celebratewallingford.com/taste-of-wallingford-ct.php
Brown Bag Biographies are due this Wednesday. The class and I absolutely love hearing our classmates talk about their Biographies. Students are presenting their items confidently and proudly. Keep up the awesome work.
Fire Prevention Week posters are also due this Wednesday. Please visit my classroom webpage for ideas about this year’s theme of Smoke Detectors Help Save Lives. Students have the opportunity to learn about safety, and win awesome prizes. The one first place winner will have his/her poster hanging in the Middlefield Fire Department all year!
Room 2 would like to Congratulate Maggie on being this week’s Star Student! Maggie has been working hard to rise to the new expectations of Korn School and Room 2. She is very kind and considerate of her classmates. Maggie is also a responsible young lady that I can count on. Congratulations Maggie, Room 2 is proud of you. Keep up the good work!
We are moving from fiction story elements to non-fiction story elements this week in Literacy. We are learning to identify headings, captions, domain specific words, graphs, diagrams and the main idea of the text. We are also working on moving from retelling to recounting or paraphrasing tests.
I am going to start testing kids on their addition math facts this week. Please continue to practice addition and subtraction math facts at home. I am looking for accuracy and fluency with math facts. Third graders should be able to accurately answer 30 math facts in one minute by the end of the year.
We are finishing up our Rebecca Sitton third grade spelling list tests this week. Once we are done and the tests are corrected, students will begin having spelling homework so please stay tuned.
Just a friendly reminder that September 30 is picture day.
Warmly,
Miss Pantalena
P.S. Congratulations to Mrs. Biro and Ms. Olivio for signing up to be our Room Moms! If anyone else would like to help, please let me know! Thank you to Riley and Gabriel for letting us borrow your mothers!
