Room 2 would like to congratulate Charlotte for being this week’s Star Student. Charlotte has been working extremely hard the last few weeks and her confidence is growing as a result. She is participating more often and is sounding much more confident in her answers. Charlotte’s willingness to take academic risks earned her the title of Star Student.
Last Thursday I sent home a long-term Turkey Disguise assignment. The assignment is due on November 26. I am looking for a well-written narrative essay about a creative turkey that takes on a disguise to avoid being eaten for Thanksgiving dinner. Students can handwrite or type the final draft of the narrative. I am looking for descriptive sentences and similes. Sequenced events that are well developed and have elements of suspense through the use of the Magic of 3. A few students expressed concern to me that they were traveling for Thanksgiving you’re your child is traveling and will not be here please send the narrative writing to school on either Monday the 24th or Tuesday the 25th.
We are working on identifying the main idea and three supporting details in literacy. While you read with your son or daughter, please ask what the main idea is and how they know. Not only are we working on identifying the main idea and detail but, we are working on conveying what the main idea and details are in clear writing. We are becoming more successful in understanding the main idea and the details but we are having a hard time writing a coherent written response based on them. I posted a sample on our website under the “notes from class” section on our website.
Please continue to send in your box tops and items to donate to the canned food drive. Thank you to the wonderful families that have already sent in items. Please continue to send the items in. The classrooms that raise the most box tops will earn a pizza party. The classroom that donates the most nonperishable will earn a surprise reward.
