Congratulations to Alyssa for being this week’s Star Student! Alyssa’s focus and effort this week has been incredible. Alyssa, you worked extremely hard on the SBAC tests and you did an amazing job in math all week. I was extra impressed with you when you figured out the perimeter of the huge shape I made on the ground with tape. You were the only child in your group to get that tough math problem correct on the first attempt. Congratulations Alyssa, I am beyond impressed with your effort and dedication to being a Korn School Student!
Since last week’s weather did not cooperate, we had to reschedule our weathering and erosion walk and releasing the trout into Allyn Brook . We rescheduled the trout to Thursday. The walk was rescheduled until a later date. Please wear comfortable shoes that you do not mind getting a little muddy on Thursday.
Room 2 would also like to congratulate Marina for being our top jumper for Jump Rope for Heart. Marina jumped 154 consecutive times! A huge congratulations also goes out to Emma for being our second place jumper!
I am proud to announce that I passed my Fire 2 written exam. Thank you for understanding why I had to quickly change plans when I invited everyone to my fire department for our flower sale. The change in plans was well worth it!
We are in the middle of a poetry unit. We are talking about onamonapia, alliteration, figurative vs. literal language and rhyming words. Please ask your child to give you examples of all four poetry features. We had a lot of fun with figurative vs. literal language last Friday.
Thank you for your continued support,
Miss Pantalena
P.S. Be on the lookout for a stapled pack of paper to assist with the geometry unit we are starting. I put together a “cheat sheet” for students and parents to use during homework time. The packet has illustrations to go along with all of the concepts and vocabulary words we will be learning.
